Grassroots eradication of prejudice

On September 9, 2001, I was walking and window shopping inside the Copley Mall in Back Bay Boston after 9:00 p.m. It was quiet. The shops were closed, and most of the people had gone home.

I walked along thinking about the things I was seeing in the shop windows, when suddenly a very different kind of thought just flew into my head: "I don't like all these Middle Eastern people being in this country."

I was so shocked at this thought that I immediately thought, "No! They're my brothers and my sisters, and we are all the children of God."
