Abdominal pain healed
One morning I woke up feeling just fine. My wife was leaving for work ahead of me. Everything seemed very normal as I said goodbye to her and watched her leave. Within minutes, though, I was struck by a totally unexpected pain in my abdomen that just floored me. I literally crumpled to my knees and from then on was trying to find some position, any position, that would bring relief from the pain. I couldn't. I tried praying for myself, but the pain far outweighed any efforts to do so. I picked up the telephone, and called a Christian Science healer. She shared some inspirational thoughts with me. She also said she would pray for me. I was just looking to God to bring me freedom.
The prayers of the practitioner didn't bring quick relief. So I called her back a second time. On one level it felt comforting just to know that someone was there, who cared. On the other hand, I needed more than just that grateful feeling. I badly needed to experience the spiritual power of prayer bringing the practical effect of physical healing.
This time the healer started saying things aloud, things that were true about me spiritually, things that were true about God, all sorts of spiritual truths. And she was voicing them very firmly. Soon I started saying some, too—almost shouting them to myself. The practitioner let my voice and my words take over. But they were just words at that point.
