A roll-up-your-sleeves life journey
Mary Ridgway, Clerk of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, sees a 24/7 church.
Like So Many Texans, Mary Ridgway grew up churched. Her family attended a Disciples of Christ church when she was a child. She joined the Episcopal church as a teenager "because I had some deep spiritual questions."
She found Christian Science as an adult and became a healer and teacher of spiritual healing. She now serves as a member of The Christian Science Board of Directors and as Clerk of The First Church of Christ, Scientist.
"I've always had a spiritual seeker within me," says Mary, "and I knew it." She found the rituals of the churches of her youth tangible evidence to her of God's presence—as many Christians say, "The outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace."
