"Nearly three-quarters —73 percent—of American kids ages twelve through seventeen have Internet access, according to a 2001 Pew Internet and American Life Project Survey.... The Princeton survey also found that 26 percent of online teens say they've gone to the Internet for information on or support with sensitive topics.
"'[Teens are] looking for answers, and the Internet provides a place to turn without them having to reveal who they are,' [Melissa] Glascow [a teen Internet user] says.
"Teens also say they turn to the Web for personal support and encouragement they don't find in a bricks-and-mortar church. Ironically, the technology that wired the world can foster one-to-one encouragement.
