The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity

In her true light . . .

A look at the newly published writings of Mary Baker Eddy

Mary Baker Eddy wrote this letter to William Clark, an 1888 student in one of her Primary classes in Christian Science healing at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College. He lived in Barre, Vermont, and about the time this letter was written, he and other Christian Scientists in the area were looking to hold church services in a public location. This note by Mrs. Eddy may be her response to their efforts.

My dear Student

Was glad to hear you are looking, seeking, and seeing the Dawn. There is great need of a revival of grace in the ranks of Christian Scientists. The letter in deed is needed and doing a mighty work. It is leavening the universe, but the Spirit comes slowly to human hearts and lives.

Lovingly yours,
Mary B. G. Eddy"
