The joy that lasts

Ask people what they most want in life, and, irrespective of season, the one thing that would appear near or on top of virtually everyone's list is joy. And what we most want is the joy that lasts. After all, joy has been used to name everything from a perfume to a programming language to a truckload of me-focused books. So it's all too easy to confuse sustained and sustaining joy, which ultimately has its source in God, with the many varieties of momentary joy, such as elation over a come-from-behind win in sports, or the rush of romance.

"Music should infect the world with joy."
