The "closet" of prayer

One morning I woke up and found I could not get out of bed without intense pain in my right hip and thigh. At first I was surprised, because I had been fine when I went to bed the night before. Since my bed was high off the floor and required a little set of stairs to get up and down, climbing out of bed was not an option. Living alone, I felt stranded, frustrated—and scared.

Then this statement came to me, loud and clear: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. vii). Immediately, the panic and fear I was feeling lessened. I knew that I could rely on God and trust His perfect plan for my care and well-being. That plan did not include immobility or paralysis.
