If they'd just give me a chance

Have you ever been told that you don't measure up for a team or a program, and that you can't do anything to change this? Well, a challenge like this is not only an opportunity to show more of your abilities. it can be a time to learn more about your true nature. God has given you special talents and abilities, and He makes it possible for you to accomplish His good purpose for you.

Back in Bible times, there were people who didn't think the young man David "fit the bill" for defeating Goliath, a giant in the Philistine army (see I Sam. 17:19-50). What was David's response? "The Lord ... will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine," David assured Saul, the king of Israel. Like David, we have more than personal abilities to rely on as we face challenges. Our abilities and might are spiritual; they come from God. Recognizing this helps us understand and follow God's direction in accomplishing goals and doing things well.

Each of us is actually the individual expression of God, of His nature, power, and presence. We would expect God to express Himself clearly, perfectly, intelligently. And we can expect the same of ourselves as His creation, or reflection.
