I'm no fisherman
You've got what the Bible calls "dominion." Use it!
The first chapter of the Bible says that we have been given "dominion over the fish of the sea" (Gen. 1:26). Well, that's fine, but I'm no fisherman, so what does that have to do with me?
For years I read that verse without thinking much about it. Then, finally, I asked God to help me understand its relevance. Here's what I discovered.
One dictionary offers this colloquial definition of fish: "a person thought of as like a fish in being easily lured by bait, lacking intelligence or emotion, etc." This made me think of apathy, which causes people to accept whatever comes their way, including self-defeating thoughts. I decided to think of having "dominion over the fish of the sea" as having dominion, or control, over apathy, and I resolved to avoid taking any bait that would get me to think of myself as less than the child of God.
