Injury healed; strenous activity proceeds smoothly

Last summer my wife and I spent several weeks in the Lake District of northern England. We enjoyed many days of fell-walking, or hiking in the hills that tower above the shimmering lakes. Though not usually dangerous, fell-walking can be strenous and taxing to those not accustomed to such exertion. Yet we never felt unduly wearied or burdened and never lost the joy and exhilaration of discovering many glorious scenes.

We often thought of favorite Bible passages that defined our experience, such as Psalm 91. It begins, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." In later verses, the psalm assures us, "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone" (verses 11, 12).

Mary Baker Eddy describes an- gels in part as "God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect . . ." (Science and Health, p. 581). These angel thoughts were our faithful companions, and not once did we dash a foot against a stone.
