To Our Readers

Families tend to defy gravity. Even a relationship that seems so badly dragged down or broken that it could never be mended, can give way to a spark of hope and forgiveness. Old hurts and deep alienation don't have the staying power they may, at times, appear to have. Many have seen remarkable turnarounds in the lives of family members.

Of course, it doesn't hurt to have someone like Polly in your family. She's the grandmother of Robin Berg, author of this week's Cover Story. Polly was not the kind of person who would allow family ties to come undone in the first place. "PTF" (Preserve The Family) was Polly's stock-in-trade. Nothing was more important to her, whether you were a family member or simply an acquaintance in the community. Polly believed that you do everything you can to keep loving relationships strong.

It's possible for anyone to discern the powerful and unifying spirit that builds and rebuilds relationships, and that made Polly the cement in her family. On our pages this week, learn more about the family of God.
