To Our Readers

Hardly a political move is made, a motion picture is released, or a major business decision is announced without a flurry of interest in what went on behind the scenes. Who said what to whom, and for what reason?

As we've all seen, much of what's looked for "backstage," and what makes the news, is only the sensational item or gossip. But every so often, a peek behind the scenes offers an insight into someone's real motive for taking action, or what a person was faced with when undertaking an important project.

For example, consider the mental legwork that contributors to this magazine go through before one of their articles is ready to see the light of day. Think—just as they must—of the wide range of Sentinel readers. Every week this magazine is put into the hands of store clerks, medical professionals, librarians, people who are physically fit, people who are desperately ill, executives, seniors, teenagers, single moms, national legislators, students, people with a lifelong faith, people with no faith, people who own large homes, people with no homes, and so on. Then, once the article makes it into a reader's hands, it should take him or her by the hand, in the direction of God's universe, and show him something he hasn't seen before.
