Group prays for community healing

The Northwest Herald

This report by Stephanie McClelland was originally published in March in The Northwest Herald, a daily newspaper in Crystal Lake, Illinois. It is reprinted with permission.

With heads bowed in prayer, they asked God to heal a [city] grieving two area teachers arrested on sex abuse charges. "Love your enemies...and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you,"Matt.5:44. read Curt Snider to the crowd of about forty people who gathered Wednesday night at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Crystal Lake.

The one-hour service came a week after Christopher A. Collins, a social studies teacher at North Middle School, was charged with aggravated sexual abuse, criminal sexual assault, and official misconduct. Only the week before, another teacher at North, William T. Saturday, was charged with sexual assault, child pornography, and official misconduct.
