Safe in the ark
Even before our daughter Abigail could talk, she would make little buzzing noises at the insects in our garden. We realized that the ideas in God's spiritual creation don't need words to talk. In His kingdom, no matter who is making the noise, God is doing the talking. And His ideas always understand.
My wife and I liked to tell Abigail about Noah's ark. The Bible says that two of every kind of creature were taken aboard the ark when the flood came. To our family, this has been an inspiration. Part of the description of ark in Science and Health is "safety; the idea, or reflection, of Truth, proved to be as immortal as its Principle; the understanding of Spirit, destroying belief in matter" (p. 581). This reminds us that God's ideas are always safe and can always be happy together, because they are safe and happy with God. Just as the ark Noah sailed was watertight—no water could get in—so where God's ideas are, no bad thoughts can get in.
This was proved one cool, autumn day when we were out working in the garden and Abigail was asleep in her buggy nearby. The buggy has a clear plastic cover to keep the wind and rain out, but a wasp found its way in with her.
