Living truly advancing years

How we love to measure! Height and weight. Sight, hearing, and intelligence. And we measure life, from year to year. But by its very nature, measuring involves limitation—a starting and a stopping point.

But are years a valid measure of man? The Bible describes God as Spirit, as Love, and man as made is His image; therefore man must be constituted of spiritual, not material, qualities. An expression of spiritual qualities doesn't exist in a time frame! Can honesty or love be young or old?

In mathematics, we don't consider how old the concept of two is. And if we draw a symbol of it on a blackboard, we never believe that two is in the symbol, or that it begins when we write the figure and dies when we erase it. Nor does the number two deteriorate with time. What the symbol expresses just is—timeless and spaceless. Likewise, God's expression, His image and likeness, is—as timeless as God, as unfettered by material concepts. One youngster answered when asked how old he was, "I'm as old as God is!"
