Life's will is life—not suicide
Many young people are facing tremendous pressures and challenges that sometimes seem more than they can deal with. As a result, suicides have been increasing as a way out of conflicting demands or deep feelings of loneliness and failure.
But suicide is not the answer. There is another way that provides lasting solutions to the problems we face and also lets us enjoy the love of family and friends. It is the way of prayer, and it leads us away from death to genuine, satisfying life. The two authors in focus this week were saved from suicide through this spiritual approach, which renewed them and brought real joy to their lives.
This is the third of four Sentinel issues devoted to The Christian Science Publishing Society's special September focus on children and on the status of work being done to solve the difficult problems confronting young people today. You will find additional coverage of these subjects in The Christian Science Monitor and the Sentinel through December and in the September issue of The Christian Science Journal.
