In June of 1995 early one morning I was suddenly overpowered by giddiness while I was trying to get up from my bed. I was told I was experiencing vertigo. As the frequency of the attacks increased, I became very concerned.

My nephew, who is a medical doctor, resides in my home. He tested me and reported that I was also having high blood pressure and that medical treatment was needed. I told him that I prefer only Christian Science treatment, and he did not insist on medical help.

I recalled healings I had experienced in the past and was inspired to heal this through prayer. I prayed to understand that every individual is a spiritual idea of the one Father-Mother God. The true, spiritual idea of the one of us is the image and likeness of God. God's children are His reflection, or expression, and are always under His infinite care.

In her book Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes: "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious—as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony" (p. 495).

This helped me to discern that when our consciousness is filled with a recognition of our true being, we are free from the belief of illness and from its consequent fears. Man is not a sick mortal needing material aid to get better.

I knew that God's goodness is abundant and His love is boundless. The following verse from the Bible strengthened my trust in divine Love's presence and power: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1).

I placed my wholehearted reliance on one infinite God, who is universal good. Since God who is All-in-all is our refuge and strength, I realized that I have nothing to fear. I am always safe in God's protection, reflecting His spiritual, upright nature. There is no power opposed to God. I felt in my consciousness God's ever-presence and power. The fear of a material condition of the body started to fade away. I became free from fear, doubt, and erroneous thinking.

In less than a week I found myself filled with joy. I was healed, and since then I have experienced no more giddiness or imbalance. The healing is complete.

I am grateful to God for Christian Science, which has brought so many healings and blessings to our family, to our community, and to many people in the world at large.

I have been staying with my uncle, David Robert, as I am now working in a nursing home at Hyderabad on an assignment. I have read his testimony and the healing mentioned therein has taken place exactly as he stated.

I saw my uncle was suffering from vestibulobasillar insufficiency. It is a disabling sensation in which the affected individuals feel giddiness and lose control of balance. On examination I found that he was also having high blood pressure. I felt medical treatment was urgently needed in that situation. But he said that he wanted to be healed through Christian Science treatment.

At the end of a week I found him in perfect health. His blood pressure was also under control. All of us in the family were amazed to see the healing power of Christian Science.
