God has been my only physician for fifty years. During this time I have had many healings through prayer which have been permanent.

Several years ago I had a problem that made standing on my feet for any length of time very painful. It seemed to be in the same place where I'd had an operation for a hernia before I began serious study of Christian Science many years ago. Each time this occurred I would sit down, or if I couldn't sit I would stop and stand still as I rested and prayed. I would silently declare my oneness with God, deny reality to the error (pain), and declare that God is All-in-all. Then I would proceed with what I was doing. My wife was a willing help whenever I asked. This went on for several months.

Then I learned of a trip that was being planned to tour some of the canals in England. While I was on this trip, there was a hike to visit an ancient castle. I decided not to go, for fear of walking that far. Instead I earnestly studied the Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly, which consists of passages from the Bible and from Science and Health. I finished my study and prayer that day by reading an article from one of the Christian Science periodicals on the subject of light. I felt really uplifted and good about my study.
