Each year on July fourth the United States celebrates Independence Day. Last year on the Fourth of July I felt anything but independent, as I had badly injured my foot and ankle playing basketball that morning at a reunion of friends. Instead of participating in the usual holiday activities, I went to the Christian Science Reading Room to pray. I found that I needed to correct quite a few suggestions about my situation. My thoughts alternated from negative suggestions to true facts concerning God and His perfect creation. They went something like this:
"Poor me, here I am in pain and crippled instead of spending time with dear friends who traveled thousands of miles to be together for a week of vacation."
