"Love is a Mother tenderly brooding over all Her children"*
Human mother-love, with comfort and caring,
has gone beyond my sight.
I am alone on earth, no family left.
I never knew a human father anyway;
the world war saw to that.
Despair and a longing for love without conditions
overwhelmed me—just someone to care!
"As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you." Isa. 66:13.
Deep into my longing heart those words repeated.
From where? From you, dear Christ, Truth, always here.
A love such as I had never known began to grow,
from the kingdom of God within.
I found a mother-love so tender, reaching through.
Why! My Mother, God, is always comforting, caring,
cheering me on—in consciousness.
And God is my Father, ever here, supporting me, too.
I snuggle close to the warmth
that has destroyed my sorrow and
shown me I am the expression of Love—
God's child.
