It is with much humble gratitude and acknowledgment of the dear Father-Mother's care that I write this testimony. Back in 1985, shortly after she gave birth to our son, my wife suddenly passed on. I was left in a new job, with a new child, and needing a new home (my wife's employment as housemother at a boarding school had provided our housing). With the loving support of many friends, family, and God's loving embrace, I was helped to go onward.

My parents lovingly took us in and provided care for my infant son so that I could continue working. My health, which because of worry and grief was hit by repeated episodes of sickness, was brought back to its proper condition with the prayer of dedicated Christian Scientists. I learned that angels, which Mary Baker Eddy describes in Science and Health as "God's thoughts passing to man" (p. 581), come in many guises—as thoughts, guidance from friends, and helpful words or deeds from unexpected sources.

I was healed of grief after about six months, but terrible loneliness and a desire for a mother for my child filled my being. I was constantly in a state of confusion. My parents, trying to aid me, took my son and me on a vacation to the mountains. The mental turmoil only grew worse for me there, and I feared that I was losing my mind. One morning I woke my mother very early and told her I was going to die, even though no physical problems were present. She lovingly set me straight, assuring me that my life was from God and that nothing could separate me from God's love.
