No need to wait. Arise!

When we wake up each morning, we rise, stand, maybe stretch a little, and are on our way to a new day. Awakening to our true, spiritual nature can follow a similar pattern: We arise from thought bound by material limitations to a more spiritualized consciousness of our true nature as God's man. We stand firmly on this spiritual foundation for thought and action, stretching and expanding our perception of the divine power and presence. Then we go forward to new demonstrations of God's control, fulfilling His purpose for us.

Just as it takes some effort to get out of bed in the morning, so it takes effort on our part to raise our thought above the argument that we exist as a mortal body, separated from God, subject to disease and sin. As we are willing conscientiously to pray for and to follow inspiration from God, we learn more of our real identity created by Him in His image, wholly spiritual and good. God's goodness and perfection are infinite because God is Love, and man reflects His goodness. Recognizing and expressing the fact that man is wholly good, perfect as his Father, we experience greater health and harmony. The present perfection of God and man was the truth on which Christ Jesus based his remarkable healings.

At a time when I was faced with a severe illness, I was able to prove the healing power that accompanies the true understanding of God and man. I had been praying diligently to realize the harmony of my being. At my request a Christian Science practitioner had also been helping me through prayer for several days. One morning, as I was talking with the practitioner, he asked if I had been out of bed, and I replied that I was unable to get up and had been relying on others to assist me with daily needs. He gently and lovingly encouraged me to make an effort to get out of bed.
