I would like to express my gratitude for the healing truths expressed in Christian Science church services through the Lesson-Sermons and tell of one of the healings I experienced during a church service.

Our boys were young, and we were all getting ready to attend the Sunday service. It was a service we especially did not want to miss, for my husband and I had just been accepted into membership. As we were getting ready, I noticed one of the boy's shirts needed ironing and immediately tackled the job. Someone bumped the ironing board and the iron tumbled off. Thinking of the damage the iron could do to the floor, I slipped my hand under the iron and set it back on the board. The iron did not touch the floor. My husband, noticing the burned hand, asked if I felt we should stay home. But I said no, it was so important to be at church. I would just wear gloves to cover the burned area.

The Lesson-Sermon for that week included the story of the three Hebrews in the fiery furnace. They had refused to bow down to or worship any other god but the one God, even if this refusal meant being thrown into fire. They had told Nebuchadnezzar, the king: "Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up." They were able to survive the experience so untouched that the story ends with the comment that not even "the smell of fire had passed on them" (Dan. 3:17, 18, 27).
