FOR CHILDREN
Guided by an angel
God had told Abraham and his wife, Sarah, that they would have a son and he would be named Isaac. Abraham and Sarah loved Isaac very much. Isaac grew up worshiping and loving God. You can read about Abraham and Isaac in chapter 24 of the book of Genesis in the Bible.
Isaac knew his father Abraham listened to God. God had made a covenant, or promise, with Abraham, because he listened to God so well. God had told Abraham, "I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing ... and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed" (Gen. 12:2, 3).
When it was time for Isaac to marry, Abraham knew his son needed a good wife, someone who would also worship and love God. Often in those days a father in a family would arrange for the marriages of his children. Sometimes the father would ask someone else to help him find a wife or husband for his son or daughter. Abraham trusted God to tell him what to do.
