My husband and I had purchased a large old house and were busy fixing it up. One cold day I was home alone when the furnace failed to come on. I went to the basement to see what could be done. I discovered that the pilot light to the furnace had gone out, so I stooped down to relight it. When I struck a match, escaped gas ignited, and there was a blast that blew me backward onto the floor.
I knew I had been burned because of a hot feeling on my face. I felt the stubby ends of the hair on my forehead and on my eyebrows, which had been singed. I also saw that the front of my sweater was scorched, and I was conscious of the smell of burnt wool.
Instantly I reached out to God for help. I sat quietly on the floor, and the Bible story of the three men in the fiery furnace came to thought. They had been saved because they were obedient to God's commands. As I considered how the truth of God had been with them, I had what amounted to an instantaneous healing.
