Late in November 1993, I was involved in an automobile collision
Late in November 1993, I was involved in an automobile collision. The car I was driving was destroyed. When I realized what had happened, I felt no fear. I was able to answer all questions, telling who would take me home, and giving the necessary telephone number. As there were no overt signs of injury, there was no mention of an ambulance or of my going to the hospital by those representing the law. They accepted my firm statement that I was all right.
During the short ride home I pondered truths from Science and Health. The two members of my family who brought me home could go on their way freely, leaving me in God's care, for God had been my only physician, and divine Mind my only medicine, for forty-five years.
Once they had left, however, I began to experience a great sense of fear. I immediately called a Christian Science practitioner and gave a brief account of the incident. Lovingly she gave me thorough treatment through prayer, standing firmly for the allness of God, good, and the nothingness of matter. With the help of this dear practitioner, I was able to stay in my own home during the months that the complete healing took. In her Message to The Mother Church for 1901, Mrs. Eddy states, "The Christian Scientist is alone with his own being and with the reality of things" (p. 20). What a wonderful healing atmosphere!
