Recently I had an opportunity to send a copy of the newest edition of Science and Health to a relative who had a physical difficulty. Sharing this gift reminded me of my first reading of the book almost eighteen years ago.
I was quite ill and had been diagnosed with what was thought to be a serious kidney problem requiring immediate hospitalization. I was told I must do something right away. I had prayed the only way I knew how at the time—a simple plea that God guide me to take the right step to be delivered from this problem.
Having known that Christian Science claimed to heal, I decided to talk to my wife, who had gone to a Christian Science Sunday School when a child. I left the doctor's office and returned home to ask how Christian Science could heal me. She told me to go to the bookshelf and find Science and Health. I began scanning it to see if in fact there could be any merit to this writing.
