When I lost hearing in one ear, my co-workers were quite supportive

When I lost hearing in one ear, my co-workers were quite supportive. But I felt embarrassed about asking others to repeat things to me. I spoke with a Christian Science practitioner, who prayed for me, and studied on my own also. I prayed to know more of what God was always knowing about me.

The first thing that came to me to do was "magnify good."

At first, I kept joking about the condition. I needed to learn not to joke or talk about this unless I had to explain myself to others; I should not be referring to the condition for sympathy or to get attention from others.

I kept praying with a practitioner for a few weeks and learned not to emphasize the physical condition. Doing this, verbally or silently, gives it more reality, while the purpose of prayer is to recognize that only good things are real.

My hearing returned gradually. I kept my persistence in prayer, and was grateful for each step closer to a complete healing.

Each day, whatever I needed to understand about God came to me. And I learned to be a little more compassionate toward those troubled with hearing loss. I was more patient in repeating myself for others.

After a month my hearing was fully restored. I had had no doubt that I would hear completely again, having seen that Christian Science gives hope. I had had plenty of past healings, and even better than that I knew the truth! I was spiritual, an idea of God, His offspring; my incorporeality had nothing to do with a physical ear.

Studying and learning more of the spiritual truths in the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures brought daily progress and then healing.
