Spiritual healing and uprooting fear
When I was a little girl, my mother paid me a penny for every dandelion I dug from our yard, providing it had the long root attached. I learned early that if you just lop off the top of a weed, the root grows a new plant.
This could be likened to the mental work of treating disease through Christian Science, the law of God. In order to be successful, it is necessary to uproot fear. When fear is uncovered, and we learn that there's no basis for it because God, good, is all, we can cast out fear, which is always a factor in disease.
