FOR CHILDREN

"Every good gift and every perfect gift..."

Patricia had just left a school where she had been a boarder, and so her parents thought it would be a good time to give her a dog. Now she would be at home to look after him and take him for walks. Patricia was so proud of her new puppy. He was a lovely golden color, half spaniel and half Labrador—and she called him Roddy. She was teaching him to be obedient so that he would walk nicely beside her. When she told him to sit, he would sit down at once, and if she told him to lie down or cross the road, he would obey her command. Roddy learned quickly; he was a bright, energetic, and happy little dog.

One day Patricia noticed that Roddy was wobbly on his legs, not at all his usual self. At once Patricia knew what she must do.

She had been attending the Christian Science Sunday School since she was eight years old, and had learned to trust the truths about God she had been taught there. These are the truths Christ Jesus lived and proved in healing others, and which he showed us we can put into practice too. Whenever a problem cropped up, whether it was sickness or a friendship that had gone wrong, Patricia knew if she turned her thought to God in prayer, she would find the answer.
