About four years ago I needed to renew my driver's license

About four years ago I needed to renew my driver's license. At the time I was wearing glasses, and had worn them for many years. It seemed right to have my need for glasses checked before going to renew the license. I called a Christian Science practitioner to support this examination with prayer.

After checking my vision, the optometrist said he wasn't sure I could pass the vision test for my license. Also, even with a new prescription, he felt any further deterioration would mean an eye operation was necessary. When I heard these results of the exam, I denied them vehemently, and knew I would rely on God alone, as my source of vision, for healing.

The record of the creation of man in Genesis 1 states that God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth" (verse 26). I saw this in a new light. As the image, or reflection, of God, I realized, I could do nothing by myself, but could only manifest what God was always expressing in me. Vision is God's; man's seeing is in knowing God. Nothing could change this fact, never had changed it. My difficulty was only a belief of faulty vision, accepted as real.
