"The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding...
"The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple" (Ps. 119:130). The word simple can mean "uneducated," or "untaught"; however, Moffatt's translation of the Bible gives a more profound meaning: "open-minded." As we are receptive to the spiritual light of Biblical teachings, we will learn of man's true and perfect identity as God's spiritual idea.
Early one Saturday morning in 1992 I woke with severe chest pain. I studied the weekly Bible Lesson to gain the light of understanding. Eventually my wife telephoned a Christian Science practitioner, who calmly referred me to Hymn 148 in the Christian Science Hymnal, which begins,
