Singing Hymn 139 at a recent Wednesday church service, I was...
Singing Hymn 139 at a recent Wednesday church service, I was reminded of a healing that took place a few years ago. I had purchased a gallon of paint remover for a friend; a few days later I decided to deliver it on the way to the post office on my bicycle. There was no answer when I knocked at the door, so I opened the screen door to set the can inside (the main door was open).
Suddenly my hand was firmly in a dog's mouth. What a surprise! First, knowing that immediate release was a necessity, I talked calmly to the dog, aware that this was a pet and protector. Very soon my hand was free, and I managed to wrap it in the plastic bag in which I'd been carrying the can. I did not look at my hand.
As I lifted my bike with my other hand, I remember thinking this was a time to call a practitioner, knowing the general concern about dogbites and their effects.
