"Has man fallen from a state of perfection? Well, has he?...
"Has man fallen from a state of perfection? Well, has he?" These questions were posed to me recently when I was ill. They repeat a question from Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy (p. 78).
I'd been healthy for so many years; then suddenly I woke one night feeling stiff and unable to turn comfortably in bed. The next morning I continued my daily routine, but was certainly not feeling 100 percent well.
Beginning to treat myself through prayer, as I usually do successfully, I knew that as the beloved child of God, I had a rich inheritance of harmony, including proper health. I knew that the divine parent—God—brings nothing unwelcome to His offspring; He maintains the true identity of man, His spiritual reflection. Indeed, as a student of Christian Science, I'd witnessed extensive healings that came through prayer and complete reliance on God.
