As a teenager I was introduced to Christian Science, and soon I had my first healing.

I was walking home late one afternoon when a friend offered me a ride. After I got in the car I realized he was drunk. It was almost dark, and when we stopped at a red light my friend picked a fight with a carload of young guys next to us. They got so mad they chased us until we were out of the city limits. They passed us, and when they got far enough away they turned around and headed straight toward our car. I looked at the speedometer to find we were going 85 mph and still gaining speed. I started screaming at the top of my lungs for my friend to stop, but I could not reason with him and saw he was too angry to listen.

I know now that I went into shock. Either I jumped out of the car or else the door flew open. I hit the pavement and tumbled several times. Both drivers stopped, and my friend picked me up and took me to the hospital emergency room. When I arrived I was conscious, but incoherent. I was bleeding internally. I was talking, even though I don't remember. I told them who I was, and they called my dad, who came right away.
