Five years ago I didn't know of Christian Science
Five years ago I didn't know of Christian Science. I had lost everything I cared about or believed in. My main focus was on finding a way out of a life that no longer made any sense.
I had made three bungled attempts at throwing this life away, when a business associate introduced me to a friend of hers. They talked to me about a way of thinking and living that was so bright and sparkling I just had to look at it. As we talked, I learned that these ideas came from Christian Science—an organized religion! At that point I felt betrayed and angry; I'd already had enough of "isms" and "osophies," for every one of them that I had studied had failed me, and I thought the last thing I needed was more "church."
My new friend was compassionate and very patient. He told me that this was not about "church," first and foremost, but rather the purest, cleanest thought there is. "Just read the book," he told me, referring to Science and Health.
