Finding new purpose in our work
As we come to see that our real job is to serve God, new meaning and vitality dawn in our lives.
No matter how many times we watch a sunrise, it elicits awe. The red ball lifts from the horizon in another new beginning. For me, the beautiful sight banishes, for a few moments at least, any thought that the same old day is here again.
Spiritual inspiration often comes like the dawn. But unlike the day's first rays of sunlight—which cast an intense but fleeting sense of newness on a familiar room or landscape—spiritual inspiration lasts. It expands and refines our understanding of man and existence. Great good stirs within our consciousness, unfolding more of what is real and of who we truly are.
Recently I "awoke" to just such a spiritual dawn as I considered my job and my reasons for working at all.
