I should like to tell you about an experience I had a short while ago. I had been doing some intensive cleaning work on a stair carpet, and my wrist was very sore. I prayed, and a verse from the Bible came to me: "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it" (Eccl. 3:14). Also came this: "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive" (Science and Health, p. 463). I held to these two statements and kept pondering them. Very soon after, I felt a small click as something went back into place in the wrist. There was no more pain and I had complete use of it once again.
Another healing experience came about two years ago. I was hit by a car whilst riding my bicycle. I came round in hospital. My head had hit the pavement, and I had a large cut by my eyebrow that the doctor stitched. He wanted me to stay overnight, but I asked to be taken home. I had to sign a form releasing the doctor from all responsibility.
Then I got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner and asked for treatment. I was very grateful for her strong and loving prayer for me. My healing of all effects of the injuries was rapid, and I never let go of Mrs. Eddy's statement from Science and Health (p. 424): "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection." The wonderful thing about this healing is the fact that I did not at any time feel any resentment at all toward the young man who had knocked me down, although he fled the accident scene instead of coming forward.
