When my husband and I found I was going to have a baby...
When my husband and I found I was going to have a baby, we immediately enlisted the services of a Christian Science practitioner to help us during the pregnancy and birth. We studied many of the spiritual truths in the textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, and spoke regularly with the practitioner.
Some of the facts we studied were that the child was a spiritual idea of God, not man-derived, and that all of its qualities were from God, our Father-Mother. It was nice to understand who the real Father of us all truly is.
I was able to find a doctor who was comfortable with our relying on Christian Science treatment and who was very accommodating in letting us deal with any situation through prayer. During one monthly visit, the doctor said she believed I had a bladder infection. She wanted to prescribe some medication, but I assured her that we would be handling the situation effectively with Christian Science. My husband and I immediately called the practitioner to let her know what the doctor had said. Together we held to the spiritual fact that man's true being is not material; man cannot have an infection, because he is God's perfect child. The doctor didn't even mention the infection on the next visit, because there was no evidence of it. My husband and I were so grateful to acknowledge this as the practical result of our prayers.
