A heart for community

It's natural to care deeply about community. Real love for family extends to neighbors—and overflows for the whole of society. This occasional column tells how a spiritual perspective has been helping Sentinel readers help others and make a contribution to healing some of the challenges facing communities today.

Several years ago I accompanied my husband on a trip to another city, where he was attending a convention. I remember clearly the hotel where we stayed; it was the scene of an experience that was memorable because of the spiritual discipline it required of me.

I had not expected to venture out of the hotel, because I had been ill, and I planned to spend most of my hours in prayer and in study of the Bible in conjunction with Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
