"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness" (Isa. 41:10). These words came to me as I tucked myself into bed early one evening, feeling miserable with symptoms of the flu. My husband was chairman of an upcoming conference that would last for several days, and had asked me to take charge of assigning accommodations for the sixty or more attendees who were coming from various parts of the country. These people were due to arrive the very next day, and here I was "sick abed."

I thought deeply about that Bible verse and soon fell asleep. After about an hour I woke—the fever was gone but I still felt miserable.

As I tried to pray further, I remembered that prayer had been the subject of the readings at a recent Wednesday church service I had attended. I then recalled some of the passages read and testimonies shared at the service that evening.
