We read in Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, "The Bible contains the recipe for all healing." I find this passage uplifting and comforting every time I read it.
One Bible assurance—"God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions"—was especially important to me one summer evening. It was eleven o'clock and the house was dark, as my husband and I had gone to bed. The front doorbell began to ring many times. We got up, thinking a neighbor needed help, but we did not turn on any lights. We saw two men were at the front door. They went around to the back and began tampering with the screen door.
At that moment the verse beginning "God hath made man upright" came forcibly to my thought. I accepted this as the spiritual truth about God's man, and I thanked Him. Instantly the noise stopped, and the men went away.
