I could call this testimony "Putting God first," because that is exactly what I did—and the results were overwhelming and permanent.

I began my career as a professional in the arts. Later I decided to go back to school to pursue a business profession, but in working toward a degree in accounting I met with many difficulties. It had been ten years since I had graduated, and I found it hard adjusting to the vigorous demands of the new curriculum; the difference between the two professions seemed tremendous, and I found myself spending many hours on homework that consisted of numerous accounting problems. I felt I could not afford time away from my studies to trim the lawn or have any recreation. We were also restricted in entertaining friends or accepting their invitations. But most of all I neglected the study of Christian Science because of the time required to do schoolwork.

It was during this period that I visited with a Christian Science practitioner to ask his help. He said he would pray to know that man is not restricted in doing good. But most important, he said I must put God first—ahead of everything. Only then would the rest fall into place.
