I was brought up in the traditional religion of my country
I Was brought up in the traditional religion of my country. However, at one point in my life I began to look for another religion because I was having so many difficulties. I read various books about the mind, took courses on mental control, joined esoteric societies, and visited a number of churches of various denominations. But nothing seemed logical to me.
Finally I gave up trying to understand God and life. My children were now adults. I had my family and my work where I was appreciated and respected, as well as good friends. And that was that; I came to feel satisfied with everything that I had, and I was at peace.
Then several years ago I had pain in my neck, which I believed was tension from stress. Finally I just accepted the pain as permanent. With the passing years the pain increased. Eventually I decided to see a doctor, who said after examining X-rays that I had incurable, ongoing arthritis, with deterioration of the joints. He prescribed many drugs to allay the inflammation and recommended physiotherapy sessions. But he assured me that these were only palliative; I could not be cured.
