Can we rest in action?

When our activities are unselfish and God-based, we feel Spirit's strength and support in all we do.

Not long ago, a woman about to compete in a horseback riding show experienced severe head pains. The prospect of competing in several events seemed overwhelming. She usually enjoyed riding, and though new at it, she loved the activity and the goal it offered to excel.

But this challenge of intense pain threatened to force canceling the two events that were necessary to qualify her to compete in future shows. As a longtime student of Christian Science, she had had many proofs of God's immediate spiritual support, so it was natural for her to turn to God.

A short while before it was time to queue up for the first event, the woman telephoned a Christian Science practitioner to help gain spiritual strength through prayer. The practitioner shared this citation from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "God rests in action." The practitioner then assured the woman that she was really God's spiritual likeness and included all His spiritual attributes. She could demonstrate freedom of action because God endows His ideas, His children, with ability, power, and high purpose together with full reflection of His strength, vitality, and vigor. All these man expresses freely without limit, pressure, or exhaustion because they come forth from Spirit, divine Love.
