Church: Are we seeing everything there is to see?

This past week the Editors and some of the staff of this magazine were talking about topics for upcoming issues when the conversation turned to Church. We began discussing how we could help people to see more of the utility of Church; how it can provide the basis for fresh, spiritual solutions to the many issues we face together.

There is much to suggest that Church remains largely outside of everyday life for many people; that it's something to attend weekly rather than unite with daily. But that's a very narrow concept of it.

During our discussion someone mentioned a statement made by the Founder of the Church of Christ, Scientist, Mrs. Eddy. In her book Science and Health she writes, "The sculptor turns from the marble to his model in order to perfect his conception." Mrs. Eddy goes on to ask a couple of profound questions, ones that can apply to every aspect of our lives, including Church. She asks, "Have you accepted the mortal model? Are you reproducing it?"
