INSIDE: LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE
Christians around the world, especially those in the new commonwealth of Russia and in many parts of Eastern Europe, will be celebrating Easter with much more hope for the future this year.
The Easter story itself underscores the need for more understanding trust in Christ Jesus' message regarding newness of life here and now. His resurrection tells humanity not of a single historical event but of the promise of every man's finding that real life is located in God, Spirit, not in matter, and that this life will never be lost.
But the founder of this magazine, Mary Baker Eddy, linked the attaining of the spiritual joy of Easter with the willingness to do the hard work of Christian regeneration and spiritualization. She once wrote: "I love the Easter service: it speaks to me of Life, and not of death." And she continues, "Let us do our work; then we shall have part in his resurrection" (Miscellaneous Writings).
