I was raised without knowing God; I didn't even know what religion was.
At one point I became ill. A medical examination revealed a stomach ulcer. I was operated on, but there still remained a condition that the doctors could not identify. I suffered for six or seven years, living only on liquids, never eating anything solid. I took many remedies, also, in order to sleep.
One day a neighbor, who is a student of Christian Science, invited me to go with her to the branch church she attends. I went with her to a Wednesday testimony meeting. Afterward, I was given an issue of The Herald of Christian Science, in which I read a testimony of healing that told of a condition similar to mine being overcome. On the following Sunday attended the service and obtained the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
