My family was introduced to Christian Science when I...
My family was introduced to Christian Science when I was in my early teens. A dear friend of my mother's always expressed so much love, health, joy, and confidence that my mother asked her one day, "What makes you so happy?" She then explained the source of her faith and her way of life—Christian Science.
My mother soon borrowed a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, from the local Christian Science Reading Room, and while reading the book was quickly healed of chest pains that had troubled her for some time. The family then began to attend church services and Wednesday testimony meetings at the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School.
Words can hardly describe the effect this newfound way of thinking had on our lives. Harmony between family members was restored. My schoolwork immediately improved as I began to understand God, divine Mind, as the source of all intelligence. A longtime foot and ankle weakness and a chronic winter complaint of chilblains were also healed.
