My earliest contact with Christian Science occurred when...
My earliest contact with Christian Science occurred when I was expecting my first child. At that time my mother was organist for a Christian Science branch church nearby. Through Science, she had experienced several healings. One in particular was of a dislocated bone that moved back into place during a church service.
Mother knew of my search for an understanding of God, so when a friend from church offered her a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, she brought it to me to read. I was about halfway through the book when I suddenly realized that this was the truth. I could see that Science built logically from its simplest statement to its most comprehensive, and that the starting point of perfect God and perfect spiritual creation was sound. If my understanding of God, infinite Truth, could destroy a fever or other ailment, then truth was an effective power to destroy all kinds of discord, as Christ Jesus demonstrated and promised. I could accept the whole on the basis of what I had already seen proved and could prove myself.
Our family had many opportunities to experience these proofs as the children grew up, and many ailments and so-called childhood diseases were healed in Christian Science.
